Diana Gabaldon
Ok...I'm just not usually the fan type.  A few people are exceptions, Katie Couric, Harrison Ford, and Diana Gabaldon.  She gets a whole page because it's the least I can do considering all of the writing she has done about my family.  If you haven't read any Diana Gabaldon books, run, run now and pick up Outlander.  This is the first book in a series of 6 going on 7 going on 8 novels.  And it's all about a fine Scottish Lad named Jamie Fraser and his wife Claire.

Weird fact: Diana's husband's last name? Watkins.  Creepy huh?

Reasons I love Diana's novels:

Stars of the show...Frasers.  I've learned a lot about my family even though Diana's work is fictitious.  She's obviously done quite a bit of research on everything she writes about.

Diana has a wry sense of humor and can create the best visual pictures with her words.  Her main character Claire is a robust personality that you can actually believe.

The titillating glimpse into alternative ways of living, loving and believing.

Mother Hildegarde automatically brings forth a vision of my paternal grandmother.  Bouton included (Except the grandma's dog was named Tinky)
