Know what makes me CRAZY???  CHRONICALLY LATE PEOPLE.  This gets me so much that it needed it's very own rant.

Let me preempt this rant by excusing legitimate lateness which happens to all of us... everyone's dog has gotten out or the car wouldn't start or they were held late by traffic, a phone call, a boss, a client.  That said:

Late people just burn me up.  I'm not talking 10 minutes late to meet me shopping.  I'm talking; arriving at the movie 30 minutes late and we miss it, leaving me standing at the airport "departing" for 45 minutes, an hour late for "important" business meeting, 30 days past due on your invoice, me alone at a bar looking like a bar whore because I'm waiting for my beer buddy. I'll call you right back means Tuesday to you.  THOSE late people. 

Thanks to a late friend, I made a plane but my luggage didn't and I had to wait for 2 hours in Detroit Metro Airport until it arrived on the next flight and I missed dinner with my family at Papa Vino's which is some good damn Italian.  Thanks to a late colleague, we lost the Bitner account and a lot of f***ing money.  Thanks to the girl who waited too long to get those super awesome-price tickets and we never went to Paris.

I read somewhere that chronically late people are not absent-minded, they are selfish, And that it is a lie to say they'll be there on time and they know they won't. I have to agree.

Also, please don't think you're making me feel any better by saying you are further along then you are.  Don't tell me you are "just leaving" if you're still dripping wet in a towel or "right around the corner" as you're getting in your car.  I'm an adult, be straight with me so I can spend the extra 15 minutes doing productive things.

In closing, no bullshit excuses please!  They smell from a mile away. Call, for crying out loud, and don't ignore me when I call you!  "It's better to ask for forgiveness than permission" is a mantra for assholes. Don't tell me you're sorry if you're not. Just quit being the chronically late jerk who gets talked about all the time they are so fricken inconsiderate.  Wonder why invitations to do things have been dropping off???
